Join us next Saturday for a Defend the Right to Protest stall. The government has passed a succession of anti-protest laws, including the absurd ban on Palestine Action. This comes after months of challenge from the streets with massive UK-wide protests to Lift the Ban. Over 2,000 people have been arrested under Section 13 of the Terrorism Act for protesting this ban, including more than 20 from Hastings. Please support our silent protest starting at 1pm in support of the right to protest peacefully.

HASTINGS COUNCIL FORCED TO RELEASE CORRESPONDENCE WITH GENERAL DYNAMICS

Hastings Council has been forced to release the documents which were meant to show whether General Dynamics in Hastings supplies military equipment to Israel or not. So the answer is that it supplies equipment to UK's 'allies.' This must be the non-answer of the year! Article in the Hastings Online Times.

HASTINGS SAYS NO TO WAR DEMONSTRATION

Thanks to everyone who came to Sunday's demonstration and to our speakers. It was a really impressive turnout. The demands are: End the war against Iran, Stop bombing Lebanon, End Israeli genocide in Gaza. We are trying to build a broad coalition to oppose this insane war: to get involved please get in touch through the Hastings Stop the War website. The speech by Irfan Chowdhury can be seen here. Last December we held the meeting in Hastings 'Iran, Palestine and West Asia.' This meeting gives a useful background to the situation in West Asia and Iran, particularly important is the contribution from Dr Helyeh Doutaghi which includes a comprehensive recent history of Iran. HELP GAZA'S CHILDREN RECLAIM THEIR CHILDHOOD THROUGH SWIMMING

We've worked with Amjed Tantesh as part of the 'Swim With Gaza' project since 2022. His life's aim is to teach as many children to swim as possible. In the process he has set up numerous swimming enterprises. We've lost count of the number of swimming pools that he has created - only to be destroyed by Israel. It's really important that Amjed succeeds with this project in Deir al Balah. Since starting this project he has now branched out to build swimming pools in other parts of Gaza. We will hopefully be working with Amjed with this year's Swim With Gaza in August. Please read and donate.

COUNTY HALL PROTEST CALLS FOR ESCC TO 'STOP INVESTING IN GENOCIDE AND CLIMATE CATASTROPHE!'

Article explaining the aims of our protest last Tuesday demanding that East Sussex County Council and the East Sussex Pension Fund "stop investing in genocide and climate catastrophe." Article in the Hastings Online Times.

PETITION: URGE THE ISRAELI GOVERNMENT TO STOP THE LAW ALLOWING THE EXECUTION OF PALESTINIAN PRISONERS

A UK Government and Parliament petition: "The UK Government must act urgently to urge the Israeli Government to stop the proposed law which would permit the execution of Palestinian Prisoners, past, present and future."

    SIGN THE PETITION.

    COUNCILLOR PLEDGE FOR PALESTINE

The PSC is asking councillors to make a commitment to uphold the rights of the Palestinian people. The PSC will be building on this momentum in the May local elections in England where we will be calling on council candidates to pledge for Palestine. There are three steps that councillors are asked to sign:

Uphold the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people; Support efforts to prevent, and ensure accountability for, Israel's crimes of genocide, military occupation, ethnic cleansing and apartheid; Ensure my council is not complicit in and does not help to normalise Israel's violations of international law, including through the council divesting pensions and any other funds it administers from complicit companies and through its procurement policies.

    PLEDGE FOR PALESTINE.
