No Fairytale Under Apartheid We spent a tremendous day getting to know Amneh Al Kelani from Jenin and Joan from Cadfa. Amneh gave a moving talk about life in Jenin, the problems caused by the Apartheid Wall, the restrictive ID system, and the recent violent Israeli attacks against the Jenin Refugee Camp.
Amneh writes children's books - books with a difference, showing life under occupation. During the day we met women at Hastings mosque, visited Deputy Mayor Heather Bishop and finished the day with the most wonderful food provided by Momo Chef.
Our full review of the day's events including an appraisal of Amneh's children's books: No Fairytale Under Apartheid.

Dr Ang Swee at Eastbourne A fascinating and very moving talk given by Dr Ang Swee who documented her time in Beirut in 1982 using her surgical skills at the Sabra and Shatila massacre ('operated day and night non-stop), to her more recent work in Gaza, operating on the victims of Israeli bombing. The meeting was organised by the Eastbourne PSC.
Dr. Ang is known for co-founding Medical Aid for Palestinians which has carried out essential medical services amongst Palestinian refugees for 40 years. Dr. Ang spoke of how she has been incarcerated in Israeli prisons three times - and has been deported three times.
While Dr. Ang has experienced so many harrowing events, she retains a very positive attitude, particularly towards the Palestinian people: 'the Palestinians are a strong people,' 'they will continue to fight for justice.' What keeps her going? 'The beautiful faces of the Palestinian children.' Of the struggle of the Palestinian people: 'I will talk about it until the day I die.'
No one could have failed to have been both captivated and energised by Dr. Ang's talk. She is a true inspiration.
