HASTINGS JEWS FOR JUSTICE FILM AND DISCUSSION EVENING

Have You Got Questions About Gaza/The West Bank/Palestine/Israel? Hastings Jews for Justice (HJJ) will be showing two short films followed by small group discussions. 'The event is free but you will need to give your name and email address at the door.'
Sands of Sorrow, about the original Nakba made in 1950. The film was created to show 'the squalid living conditions in refugee camps, starving children, and emphasises the hopeless condition of the refugees.' A byline that, tragically, could have equally been written today, although it does also make very clear the dignity and what we now know as 'sumud' of those refugees.
The Palestine Laboratory illustrates how the dehumanisation of the Palestinian people over decades of a brutal occupation has been exploited for financial gain by Israel in its arms and surveillance industry. Jewish Australian journalist Antony Loewenstein investigates how cutting-edge military and surveillance technology is being used on Palestinians, before being marketed to international clients as "field-proven" and "battle-tested."
More information at the HJJ website.
25, 26 and 27 June. The Hen & Chickens Theatre, 109 St Paul's Rd London N1 2NA.
Taken from the journals of Rachel Corrie, the 23 year old American who, in 2003, left her home in Olympia, Washington to stand with the people of Gaza. Edited by Alan Rickman and Katherine Viner, this one woman verbatim play tells the story of Rachel's bravery and courage in the face of darkness. Ticket details.
Sunday 5 July. Stade Hall. Hastings, TN34 3FJ.

A host of local musicians will be performing the poetry of Palestinian children in a unique night of solidarity, celebration, and witness.
Oh Big Blue in Concert is a collaboration of poetry and art from Palestinian children, set to music by local musicians and composers. The programme has been carefully curated to amplify the voices of these children with the diverse musical voices and rich creativity of Hastings based musicians, as well as celebrating our shared cultural connections both within and outside of our town.
The music is inspired by the exhibition of Palestinian children's poetry and art collated by the British educational charity Hands Up Project. We presented the exhibition last July in Hastings. This artwork will again be on display.
Please share our Facebook and Instagram pages. Ticket information.
