ART RAFFLE RAISES £2,350 FOR AL-MAWASI

Thanks to: all the artists and makers who gave so generously; to everyone who bought a ticket; to everyone who came to the exhibition; to everyone who donated money; to the White Rock Hotel for free room hire and the staff for their hard work.

    UPDATE: AL-MAWASI

At our last meeting we heard that there were few signs of a ceasefire, with Israeli bombing the previous day hitting a nearby building hosting displaced people, killing three and injuring many more. Despite the precarious situation, members of the Resilience Committee have been able to distribute tents, material to repair the tents that have been damaged by the recent storms, blankets, food parcels and cooked food to the surrounding community. They have been buying and distributing drinking water (the water from the two wells is too salty for drinking).

They have also been holding workshops in the 'safe space' (their community centre) about how to spot and deal with unexploded munitions; issues surrounding domestic violence; and they have organised checkups for blood pressure, blood sugar and how to avoid complications with diabetes. There has also been a workshop where they have given information for local and displaced people to grow food, distributing seeds of kale, spinach, parsley, rocket, radishes, onions and beans.

The Committee members have increasingly been working with foreign aid agencies. Whenever we receive reports, they always send messages such as "Thank you friends for helping us give hope and aid to thosewho need it" We are always thinking of ways to raise both awareness and funds, and of course donations are always welcome at our stalls and meetings or online through Paypal and to our bank:Link here. Images we have been sent of the distribution of blankets, food and below the result of bombing in nearby Khan Yunis.

    HASTINGS AND DISTRICT PSC AGM

    Saturday 17 January 2026 2-5pm. Stade Hall, Hastings, TN34 3FJ.
Join us for our annual general meeting in January when we will hear from prominent Palestinians, review the year's work and discuss our aims and strategies for 2026.
    Speakers include:

  • Ramzy Baroud, author, academic and editor of The Palestine Chronicle
  • Fares Abulebda, author and Gaza genocide survivor

The branch is run by a committee of volunteers with three officer roles. We will be electing officers on the day and welcome anyone who wishes to come aboard the committee. We are also keen to hear ideas and suggestions for the year ahead. Over the past year our group has campaigned tirelessly against British complicity with Israeli genocide and apartheid, both locally and nationally. Today, there is a greater awareness of the injustices suffered by generations of Palestinians than ever before.

Now, at a critical moment, we will come together to discuss how to campaign most effectively and where to direct our energies and resources. But we are only as strong as the people who make up our movement so please be part of this important day. Book your free ticket here: Ticketsource.
If you wish to put your name forward for the committee or have a suggestion for the group please contact us.
