NATIONAL MARCH FOR PALESTINE THIS SATURDAY 13 JANUARY

Saturday 13 January 12.00 noon   Fleet Street, London EC4Y 1BP

Come and add your voice to the calls for ceasefire in the Israeli war on Gaza which has so far claimed over 24,000 lives. There has never been a more important time to stand with Palestine.

Meet at 10am at Hastings Train Station to catch the 10.21 train to London. All the train details and the march route at our Facebook event page.

If anyone needs help with the cost of a train ticket or is willing to sponsor someone else's ticket please get in touch directly on Hastings and District PSC.

HASTINGS INFORMATION STALL THIS SATURDAY 13 JANUARY

12.00 noon until 2pm Town Centre For those who can't get to London's march, please visit our stall. Come and find out more about the campaign to raise funds for the tents at Al-Mawasi. All the usual information, plus badges, boycott stickers, keffiyehs etc.

    URGENT: AL-MAWASI APPEAL FOR TENTS

Thousands of people have been arriving in Al-Mawasi. Some are lying on the streets with no shelter.
We are able to send money directly to Al-Mawasi; and the community leaders there are able to procure tents.

The situation is extremely serious. Israel has been forcing people from their homes, and large numbers of people have no homes because they have been bombed out. According to the UN, 1.9 million people, nearly 85% of the total population of Gaza have been 'internally displaced,' including many who have been displaced multiple times. More information and how to donate.

HASTINGS MARCH FOR GAZA SUNDAY 21 JANUARY

END THE GENOCIDE - CEASEFIRE NOW!
    Hastings March For Gaza
    Followed By Town Centre Rally
    Assemble 1.30 Start 2pm
Warrior Square Gardens, St Leonards TN37 6DF

Israel has now been bombing the people of Gaza for three months, killing over 24,000.

This has been a war on children. Over 11,000 of the dead are children - that's more than the entire school population of Hastings. And at least 25,000 Palestinian children in Gaza are now orphans because of Israel's genocidal bombing.

There has never been a more important time to stand with Palestine. The war must end. The killing must stop.

Please bring your banners, placards and voices. Drums and megaphones welcome.

HASTINGS COUNCIL MEETING : TWINNING WITH AL-MAWASI

Wednesday 24 January 5.30 pm For the past 2 years, people in Hastings have been building friendship links with Palestinians in Al-Mawasi in Southern Gaza and we are calling on Hastings Council to make an official twinning link between our two towns.

Join us to lobby Hastings Council at the next full council meeting on January 24th. Assemble at 5.30pm at Muriel Matters House.

Lets boost the numbers on the petition to Hastings Council by sharing it everywhere!

At a time when Gaza is literally under threat of annihilation, voting to twin our towns would be a significant gesture of solidarity.

If the council does not include it on the agenda we will ask questions from the gallery and lobby councillors to support the twinning. More information at the PSC Facebook event page.

NATIONAL DAY OF ACTION IN WORKPLACES AND COLLEGES

Wednesday February 7th Millions have marched for Palestine and most trade unions support the Palestine Solidarity Campaign. Palestinian trade unions have called for solidarity action globally. On Wednesday February 7th there will be walkouts and protests for Palestine across the country.

    What you could do:
Organise amongst your work colleagues for a lunch break protest with a Palestinian flag and placards. Even a small gathering can have a big impact.

Hold a collection at work for Medical Aid for Palestinians.
Ask your union to call a meeting to discuss Palestine or simply hold a small meeting at lunch break or after work in a local cafe.
Ask colleagues to wear a badge or the colours of Palestine at work for the day.
Link up with other workers in your sector, eg, Health workers for Palestine, Teachers for Palestine etc.

If you want help, more information or a speaker, email Hastings & District Trades Union Council or contact the Chair, Simon Hester on 07736-064045.

    'MOON TELL ME TRUTH'

Children's Paintings and Poetry Exhibition from Gaza

This exhibition is of poetry and art by children in Gaza aged 9 - 15 which was created as part of a competition run by the Hands Up Project. Two of the children with poems published in the book are known to have been killed in the current bombing campaign in Gaza. The poem by Fatema Saidam, aged 9 'Eyes are for looking' has now been translated around the world. Tragically, she was killed with her family in October by an Israeli air strike.

The exhibition will last for a week. Details to follow.

REPORT BACK: NEW YEAR BOYCOTT TOUR

We went on a New Year Boycott Tour in Hastings to draw attention to the goods and products on our shelves from apartheid Israel. We took Israeli products off from the shelves of all the supermarkets in Hastings town centre.

Our BDS tour also took us to Barclays - this bank has £1.3 billion investments in armaments companies that supply the Israeli military.

Let's make Hastings an Apartheid-free zone!

A very comprehensive article in the Hastings Online Times. and video of the day's actions on YouTube.
