On Saturday come and help us leaflet shoppers reminding them not to buy Israeli goods! This is a simple way anyone can show solidarity with the people of Palestine. We'll also be collecting money for our friends in Al-Mawasi and for MAP. PSC Facebook event page.
Wednesday 27 December 7pm Free admission The Pig, 37 White Rock, Hastings TN34 1JP
Two young American Jews - Simone Zimmerman and Eitan - are raised to defend the state of Israel at all costs. Eitan joins the Israeli military. Simone supports Israel on 'the other battlefield:' America's college campuses. When they witness Israel's mistreatment of the Palestinian people with their own eyes, they are horrified and heartbroken.
They join the movement of young American Jews battling the old guard over Israel's centrality in American Judaism, and demanding freedom for the Palestinian people. Their stories reveal a generational divide in the American Jewish community as more young Jews question the narratives their synagogues and Hebrew school teachers fed them as children.
The Israelism trailer is here. Please share our Facebook event page.
PLANNING MEETING TUESDAY 2 JANUARY 6PM White Rock Hotel TN34 1JU Everyone is welcome who supports the demand 'Ceasefire Now! We want to organise more boycott actions, more protests targetting local companies who are complicit with Israel's apartheid, also more fundraising events.
NATIONAL MARCH FOR PALESTINE: CEASEFIRE NOW : JANUARY 13 12 noon Central London. More information to follow. PSC Facebook event page.
"THE ENTIRE POPULATION IN THE GAZA STRIP FACES AN IMMINENT RISK OF FAMINE" This is the serious and worrying statement from the United Nations this morning (22 December). The situation couldn't be more serious. "...half of Gaza's population is starving in a situation of extreme or severe hunger, and 90 per cent of the population regularly go without food for a whole day. Only ten per cent of the food currently required for 2.2 million people has entered Gaza in the last 70 days." OCHA update.
MEDICAL AID FOR PALESTINIANS (MAP) We've just sent £340 to MAP. This means that, since the beginning of October, we have been able to send £1000. A big thank you to everyone who has contributed over the past weeks. MAP announced on Wednesday that it has sent into Gaza its second convoy of five trucks carrying drugs and medical supplies. We hope to announce shortly the additional amount we will sending to MAP as a result of our recent Gig for Gaza benefit.
SPEAK OUT FOR PALESTINE RALLY IN HASTINGS TOWN CENTRE
Last Saturday (16 December) at our Speak Out for Palestine rally we heard from different sections of our community, including from three councillors in Hastings who resigned from the Labour Party to speak out freely about Palestine.
We heard from GMB rep Daniel, local mum Maaria as well as PSC members including Grace Lally who gave an update with messages from our friends in Al-Mawasi, southern Gaza.
We also heard a tribute to academic, author and poet Dr Refaat Alameer who was murdered by Israel on 7 December. There were poems, song and over 30 people wrote messages in our Solidarity Book which we will share with our friends in Gaza. Video of the event on TikTok.
PROTEST AT GENERAL DYNAMICS IN HASTINGS
Thanks to everyone who came to support our protest at General Dynamics. The giant armaments company plays a major role in enabling Israel to carry out its policy of genocide against the Palestinian people. Among the weapons it provides Israel with are the 5,000 pound "bunker buster" bombs (BLU-113) and the "hardened penetration" (BLU-109) bombs. Video of the event on TikTok.
