    LATEST NEWS FROM AL-MAWASI, GAZA

Last Saturday Israel dropped 5 x 2,000 pound bombs on Al-Mawasi. This an area that the Israeli military had designated a "safe zone." The Israeli military killed at least 90 Palestinians and injured 300 in the attack. Many had been queuing for water when the attack occurred.

Yesterday we had a Zoom meeting with members of the local Al-Mawasi committee. They were very close to the bombing but are all OK. A number of their youngsters were about to leave to collect water, but had been delayed. If they hadn't been delayed they could have been hit.

It was sad to hear that some of the local people that we had English lessons with have been killed in previous Israeli bombing.

Some of their priorities are: providing water, food, bread - and nappies. They're also very much occupied with organising activities for the children who haven't had any schooling since last year.

Accessing water is a major problem. So their plan is to dig another well. So our fundraising will now centre on this. Details of payment methods are here. And of course everyone is welcome to buy tickets for the Art Raffle for Al-Mawasi.

    ART RAFFLE FOR AL-MAWASI

Our art raffle collection was launched at the White Rock Hotel on Thursday and dozens of visitors came to view the exhibition throughout Friday. Here's a short video of the artworks which will be on display next week in the Hastings Art School space in Priory Meadow. The raffle of 28 donated works by local artists will be drawn on Saturday 27 July. Raffle tickets start at £5 - winners can select their preferred piece of art.

INVITE TO ALL HASTINGS AND RYE GROUPS
TO SIGN OPEN LETTER TO NEW MP

Hastings and District PSC has written an open letter to the new MP for Hastings and Rye Helena Dollimore, urging her to act to help stop the genocide in Gaza. Given the massacres last Saturday in Khan Yunis and Al Mawasi, and the increased violence of the occupation all over Palestine, there has never been a more urgent time to speak out. At this stage we are inviting ORGANISATIONS only to sign the open letter. Please see below and sign on behalf of your organisation if it aligns with the group's wishes and beliefs: OPEN LETTER.

Why is Palestine a Feminist Issue? Wednesday 31 July 6.30 pm Stade Hall, Hastings TN34 3DW
We are thrilled to partner with Hastings Women's Voice to put on this important event: Why is Palestine a Feminist Issue?

We will analyse how Israel has deflected feminist criticism of the genocide in Gaza through false rape atrocity propaganda, and examine how gendered violence is built into the settler-colonial state. We will be joined by Palestinian-led educational organisation Makan who will lead a fascinating discussion about the connectivity of gender, sexuality and anti-colonial struggle in Palestine.

Food provided by Palestinian Chef Roa Almadi. Everyone welcome, inclusive pricing starts at £5. Buy tickets here.
