We are delighted to report that the Art Raffle for Al Mawasi raised £1,670, which has been sent to the community to fund digging of a desperately-needed well.
Thanks to everyone of you who bought tickets, donated artworks and supported these efforts.
Particular thanks to our amazing partners Stella Dore Gallery, Hastings Art School and Hastings Friends of Al-Mawasi for making this happen.
The funds were sent immediately to the resilience committee in Al Mawasi and the digging of the new well is due to begin shortly.
As is widely known, due to Israel's inhumane blockade and its deliberate destruction of sanitation facilities, there is a crisis of clean water across the entire Gaza Strip.
On top of this, our friends are suffering from trauma and unbearable grief after 300 days of non-stop genocide. They have lost friends, family members, their homes and livelihoods. All semblance of normal life has been obliterated.
In these circumstances, their courage and determination to care not just for each other but for all the displaced peoples who have fled to the area is truly humbling.
We have not abandoned them and we never will.
Thanks to you all for showing your solidarity in meaningful ways. It makes a big difference to the people on the ground.
