PEACE CAMP AT THE GENERAL DYNAMICS ARMS FACTORY

Hastings and District PSC is organising a peace camp at the General Dynamics arms factory over the weekend 28 June/1 July. We hope this camp will put public pressure on these war-mongers in our midst, and that it will also be an opportunity to educate and organise the anti-genocide majority in our town.

So we will have a schedule of events including musicians and speakers, and practical workshops such as learning about non-violent direct action, understanding legal rights of protesters, and banner making. This is also a chance to strengthen our community by bringing people together for food, music, children's activities, creative actions and lots of friendly chats over several days camping together! We would love to hear from anyone who would like to speak, perform or run a workshop during the peace camp. Please contact us to get involved.

REPORT: DIE-IN FOR DIVESTMENT AT BARCLAYS, HASTINGS

We staged a powerful protest last Saturday filling Barclays bank with bodies, representing the many thousands that have been slaughtered by Israel's genocide in Gaza.

A loud blast of sirens heralded the start of the action and over 20 protestors marched into the high street bank, before lying down on the floor, each wearing a different sign to show the horrifying figures of those killed: 14,944 children, 492 healthcare workers, 297 teachers, 141 journalists, 68 civil defence workers....and still over 10,000 buried under the rubble.

The action highlighted Barclays' complicity in apartheid and genocide. Far from divesting, the bank has increased its investments in companies supplying arms for Israel's genocidal policies with over £2 billion now invested in the global war machine.

Thanks to all who came along, took part in the action and gave support to our protest.

It's time to join the boycott of Barclays - close your account until it cuts financial ties with the companies arming Israel. View and share our video: Instagram and YouTube.
