 Children's Paintings and Poetry Exhibition from Gaza

The exhibition of poetry and art by children in Gaza aged 9 - 15 was created for a competition run by the Hands Up Project.
All the children whose art and poetry will be on display are now displaced and two are known to have been killed in Israeli air strikes - Fatema Saidam, 9, and Obada Mohammad Abu Oda, 14. Fatema's poem 'Eyes are for looking' has now been translated around the world.
Alongside the exhibition we are running a series of workshops and activities as well as a poetry/art competition for young visitors; along with a Candlelit Vigil for the Children of Gaza Tuesday 13 February 7pm. Details can be seen here and on our Facebook Event Page.

SHOW GAZA SOME LOVE. MEETING ON TWINNING WITH AL-MAWASI

As we move closer to an official twinning between Hastings and Al-Mawasi we would like to invite everyone who is interested in making any connection with people in Palestine to come along to this meeting and get involved.
Over 2 years ago we started our friendship link with people in Al-Mawasi by organising zoom calls, online English language lessons and fundraising cultural events to support their community and to raise awareness of the issues they face.
Over the past 4 months our connection with Al-Mawasi has taken on a new significance as Israel attempts to literally destroy the whole of Gaza, so we've been organising constant fundraising for the basic necessities of life there, as well as taking part in the global protest movement to call for a ceasefire and show them our solidarity. David Rovics is an American musician and activist who has been writing and performing songs to accompany campaigns for justice for many years. A recurring theme has been the ongoing oppression of the Palestinian people. David will be performing songs from his latest album, many of which are about the war against Gaza; hopefully along with a few old favourites. He is now in the middle of a world tour taking in France, the UK, Australia and Scandinavia.

PROTEST AT GENERAL DYNAMICS THURSDAY 29 FEBRUARY
General Dynamics, Sidney Little Road Hastings TN38 9PU. Time to be announced.
The giant armaments company plays a major role in enabling Israel to carry out its policy of genocide against the Palestinian people. Among the weapons it provides Israel with are the 5,000 pound "bunker buster" bombs (BLU-113) and the "hardened penetration" (BLU-109) bombs. General Dynamics' MK-84 2,000-pound bombs have been used extensively by the Israeli Air Force during its frequent assaults on Gaza. It also manufactures the GD 883 V-12 diesel engine which is used in Israel's main battle tank, the Merkava IV.
Saturday 2 March. Demonstrate at Barclays Bank. Details to be announced. Barclays is bankrolling Israel's genocidal assault on Palestinians through its financial ties with arms companies that sell weapons to Israel. Barclays Bank holds over £1 billion in shares, and provides over £3 billion in loans and underwriting to 9 companies whose weapons, components, and military technology are being used by Israel in its attacks on Palestinians.
MEETING WITH ANDREW FEINSTEIN

We are pleased to welcome Andrew Feinstein to speak in Hastings. Andrew Feinstein is a former African National Congress (ANC) Member of the South Africa Parliament from 1994 till 2001. Now based in the UK, Andrew is the Executive Director of Shadow World Investigations. He is a prolific writer and speaker, author of the best-selling After the Party: Corruption, the ANC and South Africa's Uncertain Future, as well as the critically-acclaimed The Shadow World: Inside the Global Arms Trade.
REPORT BACK: JANUARY'S BARCLAYS DAY OF ACTION
 We made our voices known by occupying Barclays inside and outside with our stall which received non-stop interest and support from members of the public. We were able to give out information about Barclays' investments (through leaflets and through our PA system) in armaments companies such as BAE Systems, Boeing, General Dynamics, Ultra Electronics, QinetiQ, Raytheon and Israeli militarised drone manufacturer Elbit. All supply Israel's genocidal war machine. Thanks to everyone who came to support.
