BARCLAYS - DON'T BANK ON APARTHEID

    Friday 10 November 12.00 Noon - 2 pm Barclays Bank, Queens Road, TN34 1QP

NATIONAL MARCH FOR PALESTINE. CEASEFIRE NOW!

Saturday 11 November, 12 Noon, Hyde Park, London. March to US Embassy in Nine Elms Lane. Vauxhall.

Catch the 9.46 train Hastings to London. PSC: "We urge those attending to use Bond Street, Oxford Street and Hyde Park Corner tubes as well as Marble Arch to ease congestion."

Israel has killed 10,818 people in Gaza, as least 4,324 children; about half of Gaza's homes are damaged or completely destroyed; most Palestinians are surviving on dirty water and two slices of bread per day...... "About 2,650 others, including some 1,400 children, have been reported missing and may be trapped or dead under the rubble, awaiting rescue or recovery." (Yesterday's UN bulletin.).

It is vital we have the biggest turn out possible to show that we are the peace-loving majority and that we will not be deterred from standing with Palestine. If anyone needs help with the cost of a train ticket or is willing to sponsor someone else's ticket please get in touch directly email Hastings and Rye PSC. Our Facebook event page. Please share.

Al-Mawasi, Gaza - Solar Panel Fundraiser

The people of Al-Mawasi in southern Gaza have no electricity, no fuel, no transportation, and are living in cramped conditions wherever they can find. They are living through a nightmare.

The last message we received yesterday: "We're currently desperate for water and bread. We can't even find flour here. We're away from the evacuation area in KhanYounis centre, when we were there things were easier but here we're far away from any aids. We can tolerate the lack of bread, we just eat a bite each day, but we can't live without water. We urgently need your help to get energy so we can get water."

For two years we have been running a campaign to formally twin Hastings with Al-Mawasi; during this time we have got to know the community well. More information.

Since 7 October we have been in intermittent contact with the community. We have been able to send funds - at the moment they are using these to buy medicines for their children who suffer from vomiting and diarrhoea as the living conditions they're forced to live through are very unhygienic. They really need a source of electricity - this will be for things such as purifying water, lighting at night, charging phones and having an internet connection.

We're aiming to raise £1,700 so that the community can install a solar panel. The Paypal details:

The strong and clear message from Hastings: Ceasefire Now!

"No more weapons, no more war. Ceasefire's what we're calling for!" was one of the main chants at last Sunday demonstration. With an estimated 400 marchers, it was regarded as an empowering, uplighting event. And quite loud! While Home Secretary Braverman grotesquely calls our marches 'hate marches,' this was a march of joy and love, calling for peace.

It was followed by a rally in the town centre. We heard heartfelt words from a Christian vicar, a powerful speech from the Chair of the Hastings Mosque, poems by children in Gaza read by local kids, inspiring speeches from the trade union movement, Green Party, Hastings City of Sanctuary and an update from the community in Al-Mawasi in southern Gaza. It was a beautiful and uplifting event. Article in the Hastings Onilne Times.

    'Naming the Dead Children' Vigil

A continuous vigil for 8 hours was kept outside Hastings Council Offices, with the reading of nearly 2,000 names of children killed in Gaza by Israeli bombs. Our local government has a responsibility to speak out on our behalf against these atrocities.

lsrael could not carry out these attacks without the political and military support of governments like the UK. We refuse to give our silent consent to war crimes supported in our name. We call on all our elected representatives to speak out and demand an immediate ceasefire. Video of the vigil during the evening: Facebook video.

    Film Show: Killing Gaza

The film was both harrowing and informative. A record of the aftermath of the 2014 Israeli bombing campaign and ground invasion of Gaza, the footage is unfiltered and we hear directly from many different Palestinians, and follow them over a period of months.

The film was followed by a lively discussion, which clearly showed at first the dismay at what we had all seen, followed by a stronger resolve to strengthen our work for Palestinian solidarity. We encourage as many people as people to see the film. It can be downloaded through Vimeo.
