Forthcoming local solidarity events.....
FILMS FROM THE UK'S STUDENT ENCAMPMENTS
Friday 26 June. 6.30pm. Stade Hall. Hastings, TN34 3FJ.

Join us to watch and discuss a series of short films made by and with student-activists from the Gaza encampments in the UK.
Developed as part of the Cinema and Solidarity research project, funded by the University of Warwick, these films explore acts of co-resistance, particularly among students of Palestinian and Jewish heritage and offer unique insight into activism and cross-cultural solidarity. They reflect the students' rich experiences and perspectives which drew them to the political movement opposing the ongoing genocide. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion and audience Q&A. Food will be provided! Please share our Facebook event and Instagram pages.

OH BIG BLUE POETRY AND ART EXHIBITION
Sunday 5 July 10am - 5pm. Stade Hall. Hastings, TN34 3FJ.

During the day, 10am - 5pm, we will be showing the art and poetry collection produced by children from all over Palestine including Gaza, Ramallah, East Jerusalem, Hebron, Nablus and Jenin and Gaza.
POETRY WORKSHOPS 11am over 16s / 2pm under 16s.
Come and join one of our friendly informal workshops - we will talk about the background to the 'Oh Big Blue' poetry and have a closer look at two or three of the poems. You will then have the chance to respond in your own way by writing your own sentence, message, short poem or drawing - and, if you like, these can be sent to the children of Al Mawasi. Don't worry - it won't be like school!
Join Helen and Hannah from 11am - 2pm to make friendship bracelets in support of Palestine. Come along to show your solidarity, connect with others, and add your own messages of hope, peace, and support.
Sunday 5 July 7pm. Stade Hall. Hastings, TN34 3FJ.

Oh Big Blue in Concert is a collaboration of poetry and art from Palestinian children, set to music by local musicians and composers. The programme has been carefully curated to amplify the voices of these children with the diverse musical voices and rich creativity of Hastings based musicians, as well as celebrating our shared cultural connections both within and outside of our town.
The concert will feature original compositions and performances from Lucy Mulgan, Jason Yarde, Fliss Gorst, Frank Moon, Seymour Milton, Lucie Treacher, Ruby Colley, Tara Franks, Tom Clarkson, Bev-Lee Harling, Tullis Rennie, India Blue, Sam Glazer, Brook Tate, Ellie Westbrook and Chiara Vinci.
The music is inspired by the exhibition of Palestinian children's poetry and art collated by the British educational charity Hands Up Project. We presented the exhibition last July in Hastings. This artwork will again be on display. Wine will be available.

FREE SWIMMING LESSONS FOR CHILDREN IN GAZA

This is a project we support that we really hope people can get behind. #swimwithgaza is working with and supporting this incredible project where pools are being constructed along the Gazan coast with boulders and sand bags forming mini-lagoon-like structures. So far five pools have been completed by Amjed Tantesh and his helpers. 9 more to be built. Amjed's life ambition is to teach as many children in Gaza to swim as possible.
The money is needed to pay the teachers, the support staff, meals for the children and for Amjed's helpers who are setting up and maintaining the pools.
The fundraiser page is here: Free Swimming Lessons for Children in Gaza.
The #swimwithgaza project will shortly be announcing the date of the international solidarity swim where we all leap into the sea, starting in News Zealand and finishing in west Canada. More information at its Facebook and Instagram pages.
Saturday 11 July. Warrior Square, St Leonards on Sea. We plan to have a stand at the festival. More information to follow. St Leonards Festival Facebook page and Instagram page.
