ANTI PALESTINIAN RACISM TODAY
Silenced, excluded, defamed and erased: Anti Palestinian Racism today with Dr Zahira Jaser. Saturday 22 February 3pm. White Rock Hotel.
We are honoured to welcome Dr Zahira Jaser, Associate Professor at the University of Sussex, to the White Rock Hotel for this illuminating talk, followed by a Q&A.
It may seem surprising that given events in Gaza, and the West Bank, many in the world are still in denial of the Palestinian condition. Headlines in the Western media consistently tone down Palestinian suffering while amplifying the suffering of the Israelis. This session delves deeper into why and how this happens.
Dr Zahira Jaser will explore how Palestinians are erased though a progression of actions such as silencing, censoring, surveilling, killing and destroying.
A Palestinian-Italian scholar, Dr Jaser has recently publicly 'come out' as Palestinian, an identity that she admits is stigmatized by society.
Since writing an autobiographical essay published in the Financial Times, she has been exploring the reasons behind this stigma, studying the psychological process of stigmatization, which happens through the labelling of Palestinians as terrorists and antisemitic simply because they are.....Palestinians. She has recently released a working paper on Anti-Palestinian Racism, a phenomenon that she will unpack for us during her talk. More information: Facebook, Instagram.
Tuesday 25 February 7.00am. General Dynamics, Sidney Little Road, Hastings TN38 9PU

Support next Tuesday's protest against genocide profiteers General Dynamics. This company is one of the main suppliers enabling apartheid Israel to carry out its war crimes against the Palestinian people. It supplies the MK-84 2,000 lb bombs that Israel has used to murder and destroy in Gaza. Its Hastings factories produce communication systems for fighter planes and ground vehicles.

This Spring we're asking everyone to Give It Up For Gaza....give up something you can afford to do without, in order to give kids in Gaza access to education again.
The local school in Al-Mawasi, like most of the other civil infrastructure of Gaza, such as electricity, water, hospitals and healthcare has been destroyed. The people in the local community plan to convert their community centre - called the 'safe space' - into a makeshift school. They want to pay teachers to provide lessons for the youngest children who find online learning difficult. This will give these children some chance of normality and stability after nearly a year and a half of displacement and bombings.
So whether it's a pint of beer, or a bar of chocolate, or even your BBC TV licence - if you can Give it up for Gaza then donate the money saved to Al-Mawasi today, and be part of the Palestinian struggle to resist and rebuild!' Give It Up For Gaza. More information about Al-Mawasi.
The Israeli Embassy and a number of Israeli lobby groups told the BBC to delete a film about how four children survived Israel's genocide in Gaza. And the BBC did as it was told. All because one of the boys in the film has a dad who is Deputy Agriculture Minister, someone whose job it is to manage farming in Gaza.
Of course the real reason: ''the programme clearly struck a nerve because it humanised the Palestinian people, particularly children and youth, and exposed just a little of their suffering and the daily bombardment they faced under Israel's genocide.'
We take issue with the BBC's introduction suggesting that life in Gaza started on 7 October 2023, but otherwise worth watching. Background to the banning.
The film is available on Dailymotion and Rumble.
Saturday 8 March 11am - 5pm Women's Voice Hastings Hear Me Roar. The Observer Building, Cambridge Road More Information (Facebook). We will have an information stall at the event.

REPORT: JEWISH - NOT ZIONIST: MEETING WITH MARILYN GARSON

Thanks to everyone who came to our meeting with Marilyn Garson. Through the live link from her home in Aotearoa New Zealand, Marilyn made it clear that there is nothing Jewish about support for a violent racist state, nothing Jewish about oppression and apartheid, carrying out genocide and ethnic cleansing of the indigenous population.
She showed how, from a situation where she found hostility to her views within the Jewish community, there are now growing number of members of anti-Zionist Jewish groups. And she made the point that Zionism was never primarily a Jewish movement, in fact that today there are 30 million Christian Zionists in the United States, and just 16 million Jews on the planet, an increasing number turning away from Zionism.
Our report of the meeting on our website.
ONLINE WELLBEING SESSIONS Clinical hypnotherapist Chris Dindar is running 30 min relaxation sessions to help decompress, process our emotions, and find a moment of peace and deep relaxation amidst the chaos. Please email Chris directly if interested in taking part. The sessions are the 1st and 3rd Friday of the month at 12 noon.
