Hastings Nakba Rally and Memorial for Shireen Abu Akleh

    Saturday 14 May 12 - 1pm.
    Outside HSBC, Robertson Street Hastings

It's 74 years since the Nakba (catastrophe) where Zionist forces ethnically cleansed and eradicated over 500 villages and cities in Palestine, committed dozens of massacres, and took over 78% of the land of historic Palestine. The Nakba continues with over 1,000 Palestinians facing imminent homelessness in Masafer Yatta (see below).

On Wednesday the IDF/Israel Defense Forces killed journalist Shireen Abu Akleh at the Jenin refugee camp. She was clearly wearing her press vest. Shireen was fatally shot in the face. Her colleagues were prevented from going to her aid. It was a blatant murder, violating international laws and norms. She is the 55th journalist to be murdered by the Israeli military forces since 2000.

Also on Wednesday, the IDF shot and killed 16 year old Thaer Khalil Mohammad Maslat in Jabal Al-Taweel in the occupied West Bank city of Al-Bireh, the tenth Palestinian child shot and killed by Israeli forces this year. Please join us on Saturday to show your solidarity with the Palestinian people and demand their freedom, dignity, equality, truth and justice.
    Please share the Facebook event.

    Save Masafer Yatta

The Nakba is ongoing as Israel's high court greenlights the forced displacement of over 1,000 Palestinians from 12 villages in the Masafer Yatta area in the occupied West Bank.

Generations of families are to be uprooted, after they have already endured so much violence and trauma.

Palestinians are resisting these expulsions and we need to take action to support that resistance. Please email the Foreign Office to demand an end to ethnic cleansing and for the UK to stop arming Israel. Save Masafer Yatta.

    Protect the right to boycott

The Queen's speech confirms that the UK government will pursue its anti-boycott bill. The UK Government wants to prevent public bodies from making boycott, divestment or sanctions decisions that aren't in line with its foreign and economic policies. In advance of the Government's "anti-boycott bill," write to your MP: Oppose the 'anti-boycott bill.'
